Professional Photographer in Culpeper, VA

2018 marks the 6th year that I have been a professional photographer in Culpeper, VA. I actually started my photography journey about 8 years ago, however 2012 was the year I went "professional."

Being a professional photographer means much more than just taking pictures with a fancy camera for other people. For most, it means being a business owner. When first starting out, you have so much to learn. You become a one "man" show. Everything from speaking to inquires, planning, marketing, taking the pictures, book keeping, editing, and delivering the final portraits is on you. It can be very overwhelming. You have to start worrying about insurance, taxes, the list goes on and on. Being a small business owner is not easy, especially for creative minded people.

This year, I decided it was time to join The Professional Photographers of America (PPA). It is a wonderful non-profit organization just for professional photographers. Of course, you actually have to be a professional to join but it has so many wonderful benefits for photographers from protection, education and resources to help us become more as business owners.

Today my official certificate came in the mail and I am so excited. I shall share with you a horrible cell phone upload I shared on my Instagram account earlier today. I know you are just as excited as me right?! If you are a professional photographer, I strongly suggest looking into PPA. It will be worth your time for sure.
